For quite a while now I've been getting very frustrated with having so much
stuff and feeling so encumbered by it.
A lot of junk that I either don't need or don't want. Many things I've been saving for "someday" when I might need them ;) And so this weekend was the time to dejunk ALL of it. Honestly, I went through just about EVERYTHING in my room. I did have help though, Lindsey came over and helped me to be brutal as I decided what to keep and what to get rid of, which was a tremendous help! We started Friday afternoon right after classes and here's how my room started out. It may not have looked like a mess to the casual observer, but I knew about all my well hidden stashes of stuff ;)

I decided that the best way to ensure that my WHOLE room got dejunked was to rearrange it. Fortunately my family is so used to me rearranging my room that they don't care if I dump stuff in the hall temporarily. One of the biggest things I wanted to do was go through my books and since they were all under my bed, they were the first thing to be drug out. (And yes, that's my mattress on the left blocking several doorways!)

With my mattress in the hall, it was easier to manipulate the bed. I thought I knew how I wanted to arrange it, but ended up changing my mind so we
changed plans mid way through. Once we finally got the bed, desk and table where we wanted them, we were left with QUITE a few piles of things to be put away.

By the end of the night my room was pretty clean but the hallway was a disaster ;) The main things were arranged and we had started tackling the bigger job, that of dejunking. It was so freeing to go through my closet and get rid of the things that I really never wear. This part was especially fun to do with a friend, to get her opinion, talk about what things looked good together or bad on me, and laugh together over "hideous" clothes ;)
To be continued...
