listen
As I made the trek across campus from my classroom to my car this morning, I quieted the constant stream of thoughts within my own mind and focused on just listening...a distant lawnmower, the cicadas in the grass, keys jingling, the chatter of students enjoying the gorgeous day we had to kick off September, the difference in the way the wind sounded in the tress and how it sounded rushing past my ear, the snap of my flip flops as I walked across the pavement and the swish of my feet in the tall grass at the edge of the parking lot. It was so calming and relaxing to cut out all other stimulation (especially internal in my case) and just focus on what I perceived using only one sense.
